Hogs and Helmets

Well, Saturday (the day after the cooking class) we decided to go to Bangkok’s Giant Swap Meet. It was huge! It would probably take a week going every day to go see what every little shop had to offer, although much of them had the same stuff. After this we spent the rest of the day traveling to Chiang Mai. We arrived there late at night.

Meagan got a cool bag there.

On Sunday we decided we would just go up on a hill in Chiang Mai and see one of their temples. We rode scooter up to the top of the hill. It was so much fun! The scooters were really fast and it was a pretty crazy experience driving over here. Everybody drives on the left side of the road, and nobody pays any attention to lane lines.

Over looking the city

Meagan with her hog. (The road driving up was really curvy and steep.)

The temple. It was on the top of a hill in the middle of a bamboo jungle. The stairway leading to the temple, obviously guarded by giant snake dragons.

The temple itself. They all have these round cone tower things; they are called chedis. Many times they are gold like this, sometimes not though.

These people from who knows where all jumped in this picture with Meagan. Afterwards they wanted one with her with their own camera. I’m pretty sure they thought that she was a famous movie star or singer.

Deep in the heart of the bamboo jungle on just this tiny road. No, it was not a one way road! It was scary when any cars came the other way. So, we soon turned back to get to the bigger real two-way road.

A waterfall by the way.

This happened two weeks ago. There are SO many more sweet things to post about our trip but it just takes SO bloody long for pictures to load.
